USD/JPY: Greenback trading higher this morning

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, the USD strengthened 0.23% against the JPY and closed at 79.86.

On an annual basis, Japanese wage earners’ total cash earnings was unchanged in September, from a downwardly revised 0.0% recorded in August. Meanwhile, housing starts in Japan increased 15.5% (YoY) in September, following a 5.5% drop in August.

In the Asian session, at GMT0400, the pair is trading at 80.06, with the USD trading 0.24% higher from yesterday’s close.

The pair is expected to find support at 79.71, and a fall through could take it to the next support level of 79.36. The pair is expected to find its first resistance at 80.27, and a rise through could take it to the next resistance level of 80.48.

The currency pair is trading above its 20 Hr and 50 Hr moving averages.
