LME Copper prices rose 0.8% or $51.0/MT to $6163.0/MT. Aluminium prices declined 0.1% or $1.5/MT to $1949.5/MT.
In the Asian session, at GMT0400, the pair is trading at 0.7221, with the AUD trading 0.17% higher against the USD from yesterday’s close.
Overnight data revealed that Australia’s Westpac consumer confidence index climbed 0.1% on monthly basis to a level of 104.4 in December. The index had recorded a reading of 104.3 in the prior month.
The pair is expected to find support at 0.7198, and a fall through could take it to the next support level of 0.7175. The pair is expected to find its first resistance at 0.7237, and a rise through could take it to the next resistance level of 0.7253.
Moving ahead, traders would await Australia’s consumer inflation expectations for December, slated to release overnight.
The currency pair is trading above its 20 Hr and 50 Hr moving averages.
