AUD/USD: Aussie rises as interest rates remain unchanged at 3.0%

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, AUD strengthened 0.23% against the USD to close at 1.0436.

Australian markets remained closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

In the Asian session, at GMT0300, the pair is trading at 1.0467, with the AUD trading 0.30% higher from yesterday’s close, as the Reserve Bank of Australia held its interest rates unchanged at 3.0%.

Also this morning, the Australian Industry Group (AiG) reported that the seasonally adjusted Australian performance of manufacturing index (PMI) fell to a reading of 44.4 in March, from a reading of 45.6 recorded in the previous month.

The pair is expected to find support at 1.0409, and a fall through could take it to the next support level of 1.0351. The pair is expected to find its first resistance at 1.0503, and a rise through could take it to the next resistance level of 1.0539.

The currency pair is trading way above its 20 Hr and 50 Hr moving averages.
