USD/CAD: Trading flat this morning

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, USD declined 0.15% against the CAD to close at 0.9710.

In the US, IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index fell to 43 in March from a rise to 50.9 in February. In Canada, seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts rose to 181,900 units in February, compared to a revised rate of 170,600 units recorded in January.

In the Asian session at 4:00GMT, the pair is trading at 0.9709, 0.01% lower from the New York session close.

The first area of short term resistance is observed at 0.9737, followed by 0.9765 and 0.9809. The first area of support is at 0.9693, with the subsequent supports at 0.9677 and 0.9633.

Trading trend in the pair is expected to follow resulting cues from the releases of New Housing Price Index data today.

The currency pair is showing convergence with its 20 Hr and 50 Hr moving averages.
