USD/JPY: Yen extended its gain in the Asian session

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, USD weakened 0.36% against the JPY and closed at 77.17.

This morning, Japanese Finance Minister, Jun Azumi stated that Japan wants to closely watch the ongoing active discussions in Europe on how to avert Greek default. He further added that Europe must decide on its own if it wants assistance from other countries including Japan to tackle the crisis.

In the Asian session at 3:00GMT, the dollar is trading lower against yen from yesterday’s close at 23:00 GMT, by 0.17%, at 77.04.

The first short term resistance is at 77.49, followed by 77.95. The pair is expected to find support at 76.64 and the subsequent support level at 76.25.

The currency pair is trading below its 20 Hr and its 50 Hr moving averages.
