USD/CAD: CAD higher amid better risk appetite

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, USD declined 0.25% against the CAD to close at 0.9530.

In the US, mortgage applications increased by 5.3% for the week ended on April 15 compared to a 6.7% drop in the previous week.

In the Asian session at 3:00GMT, the pair is trading at 0.9487, 0.45% lower from the New York session close.

The first area of short term resistance is observed at 0.9538, followed by 0.9589 and 0.9671. The first area of support is at 0.9456, with the subsequent supports at 0.9425 and 0.9343.

Trading trends in the pair today are expected to be determined by data release on retail sales in Canada.

The currency pair is trading below its 20 Hr moving average and its 50 Hr moving average.
