USD/JPY: Japanese Yen trading higher this morning

For the 24 hours to 23:00 GMT, the USD declined 0.8% against the JPY and closed at 112.01.

In the Asian session, at GMT0400, the pair is trading at 111.82, with the USD trading 0.17% lower from yesterday’s close.

Earlier today, data indicated that Japan’s final leading index rose slightly to a level of 102.1 in December, compared to a preliminary reading of 102.0. On the other hand, the nation’s final coincident index fell to a level of 110.9 in December. The index had recorded a flash reading of 111.2.

The pair is expected to find support at 111.53, and a fall through could take it to the next support level of 111.23. The pair is expected to find its first resistance at 112.35, and a rise through could take it to the next resistance level of 112.88.

The currency pair is trading below its 20 Hr and 50 Hr moving averages.
